Tobacco Use and Counseling

Tobacco Use and Counseling in Jackson

The recent Community Assessment of Jackson area residents identified tobacco use rates nearly twice that of the state.  This significantly impacts the health status of our patients.

The Jackson Tobacco Reduction Coalition has been identifying the processes in place for smoking cessation referrals to help people quit. We ask that you provide your input to help us learn more about the need for additional resources in the areas of education, awareness, community-wide cessation resources and related materials.

The goals of this survey are to identify:

  • Patient, practice or system barriers that limit use of tobacco cessation services and interest in trying to quit among your patient population.
  • The value of additional supports for treating patients with tobacco addiction in your practice.
  • The extent to which you currently are using available resources in your practice when making tobacco cessation referrals for quitting.

Jackson Health Network has partnered with the Jackson Tobacco Reduction Coalition to assist in this assessment. We ask that anyone in the office providing any counseling on tobacco cessation complete this.  It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete the survey. The information is of great value as we work to enhance services to reduce the use of tobacco in Jackson County.
